Lunch with Leaders: Green America

Back to All Events

On Wednesday, February 13, join the Do Good Accelerator and the Center for Global Sustainability for this month's Lunch With Leaders featuring Green America.

Hear from Todd Larsen, Executive Co-Director for Consumer and Corporate Engagement, speak about how Green America works with consumers and investors to encourage and support large corporations to act on the climate crisis. Green America, a national nonprofit and membership organization, works to harness economic power—the strength of consumers, investors, businesses, and the marketplace—to create a socially just and environmentally sustainable society. The organization works to put pressure on large corporations to act on climate change and helps companies make changes to their supply chains to reduce their impact and help the United States meet the goals of the Paris Climate Accords without help from Washington. Todd's presentation will provide an overview of ethical consumerism and how corporations can work to address climate change.

By sitting down and speaking with leaders from local nonprofits, who arealready tackling today's biggest challenges, students can deepen their understanding about social issues, why these issues exist, what current solutions are being implemented, how current gaps can be filled and ask questions that will enable Terps to think of new and innovative approaches to solve these issues.
