
This presentation will explore policies and strategies to create a more equitable energy system that ensures energy is affordable for all. It will define energy insecurity and energy equity, discuss ACEEE’s new research on energy burdens, and explore federal, state, local, and other strategies to improve energy affordability, clean energy access, and equitable outcomes within the energy sector.
About the speaker: Ariel Drehobl is a senior research associate at the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy, where she leads ACEEE’s work related to energy equity. She is the lead author of ACEEE’s new energy burden report, and her work also focuses on low-income energy efficiency programs, equitable utility policy, and energy affordability. She also provides direct policy and research assistance to utilities, local governments, community-based organizations and others working to advance energy affordability policies and programs.
