Speaker: Xiangwen Fu, CGS Postdoctoral Research Associate

Session Description: Publishing in a peer-reviewed journal is a critical milestone in the research process, yet it can be challenging for early-career researchers. In this seminar, Xiangwen Fu will share his thoughts using one of his PhD research papers—"Co-benefits of Transport Demand Reductions from Compact Urban Development in Chinese Cities"—as an example. The session will outline key stages of manuscript development, including structuring the paper, selecting an appropriate journal, and navigating the submission process. It will also provide an overview of the editorial process, along with practical strategies for responding to reviewer comments. Audience input and the sharing of personal experiences will be highly appreciated to enrich the discussion.

Speaker Bio: Xiangwen Fu is a postdoctoral research associate at the Center for Global Sustainability. He is broadly interested in studying carbon emission mitigation strategies and their implications for energy, air quality, and human health using modeling tools. Fu’s doctoral research focuses on exploring demand-side opportunities (e.g., compact urban development) to reduce energy use and carbon emissions from transport and buildings in Chinese cities as well as their air quality and health co-benefits. He holds a Ph.D. in Public and International Affairs from Princeton University, and both master’s and bachelor’s degrees in environmental sciences from Peking University, China.
