Abstract: After assessing progress toward Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) in last year’s Global Stocktake, countries are now preparing the next round of NDCs and implementing policies to meet current targets. Scenario analysis with Integrated Assessment Models (IAMs) is integral to both. To be most relevant for policymakers at the national level and negotiators at the international level, IAM scenarios must be compared to historical data and recent trends. This work presents a repository written in R that collects up-to-date openly available reference data on energy supply and demand, and emissions, and processes them into the IAMC format, for comparison with IAM model results. This tool, anticipated to be made open-source, visualizes comparisons of IAM model results with historical trends, assessing the plausibility of near-term scenario trajectories.
